The 2023 MOTHEROTHER residency, which was supported by The NewBridge Project, as part of their Practice Makes Practice programme, was awarded to Lizzie Klotz. Lizzie undertook the residency over an 8 week period between 13th September and 8th November 2023.

About Lizzie’s practice:

“I am an independent dance maker, performer, facilitator and producer living in Gateshead, whose practice is rooted in conversation, care and joy, spanning work for theatre, outdoors, online, film, and writing.”

Lizzie states about their intentions for the residency:

“The residency will archive the postpartum period following the birth of my second child through improvised dance, film and writing.

It is an attempt to represent a moment in time that is inherently imperfect, where thoughts, feelings and actions are disordered - and in doing so I am resisting the unrealistic expectations of mothers, including myself, to be perfect.”
