Alia Gargum was selected for the AUX x MO artists support programme which commenced in May 2024. Find out more about AUX x MO here.

As a result Alia was invited to exhibit work at the Middlesbrough Art Week 2024 ‘In the now and In the Far’.

On September 26th 2024, Alia’s solo show ‘this was a mosque/هذا كان مسجد’ opened and was met with a fantastic response and over 600 visitors. Alia appeared on the BBC and featured heavily in a number of fantastic reviews of the MAW.

Thanks goes to the amazingly supportive team at the MAW who facilitated the installation of the work, made career enhancing connections with curators and critics, and further supported Alia’s practice with the inclusion of their food workshop as part of the MAW programme.
